High Museum of Art
Thanks to the generous support of Friends of the Arts and the Lovett Parent Association, the High Museum of Art established a partnership with The Lovett School. This collaboration allows for unique access to the many resources of the High and further integrates visual arts into Lovett’s curricula. Lovett has access to the High’s special exhibitions, collections, programs, and Museum staff. For more on the partnership, please watch this video.
The Sam Flax Program provides students and teachers with the opportunity to explore traditional academic subjects through the fine arts.
Atlanta Botanical Garden
Since purchasing its cloudforest property in Ecuador in 1992, Lovett has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Students apply each year to participate in an exclusive, collaborative research project that focuses on orchid DNA barcoding, allowing students to apply their botany coursework into real conservation research.
Thanks to the visionary work of the late Dan Dalke, Lovett’s former Upper School science department head and founder of our marine biology program, Lovett students have enjoyed exclusive research opportunities at the Georgia Aquarium for over ten years. Students work in pairs on research projects in different exhibits at the Aquarium, including Tropical Diver, Cold Water Quest, and River Scout. Students may also extend their research and work into independent studies or senior projects.
Center for Civil and Human Rights
The Center for Civil and Human Rights was recently opened in 2014 in downtown Atlanta. Located next to the World of Coca Cola, this award winning center brings to life the Civil Rights Movement as well as Human Rights Movements from around the world. Through our mutual desire to nurture innovation, this partnership allows Lovett faculty and students to enjoy admission, membership, and invitations to special programming at the Center. The Center also offers exclusive summer internships for students and curriculum development for faculty.
