Upcoming Trips

Join us for a trip for Upper School students to Lovett’s cloudforest preserve and research station in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador. The trip focuses on the many opportunities available: hiking, learning about local flora and fauna, and hearing more about the communities of the Intag region of Ecuador. Groups will also have time to explore the capitol city of Quito, the market in Otavalo, and will visit area schools. This is a wonderful opportunity to travel to South America, learn about local culture, and brush up on your Spanish!

Fall Trip

Sophomore Trip
Fall 2010 will mark Lovett's sixth annual school-year trip. Ten sophomores and several faculty will visit Siempre Verde for two weeks during the fall semester, enjoying the opportunity to learn about and explore the region more in depth than the standard visitor, who comes for just a few days. It is hoped that these sophomores will use their junior and senior years to engage in research projects based on the interdisciplinary knowledge they obtained at Siempre Verde and, in turn, inspire and encourage other students to visit. For more information, contact Lovett Upper School Academic Dean Marsha Little at mlittle@lovett.org.

Scholarships

Lovett students who wish to take advantage of Siempre Verde but do not have the financial means to do now can apply for financial aid. Established with a substantial donation by Mr. and Mrs. Samuel N. Frankel, the Frankel Family Siempre Verde Scholarship Fund will provide support to students who have demonstrated financial need and display qualities of good character, hard work, and the desire to pursue their educational interests outside the classroom. An additional scholarship opportunity has been created in honor of Siempre Verde’s founders, Connie and Bob Braddy. This need-based award offers financial assistance to Siempre Verde for students who demonstrate a passion for botany, conservation, and ecology. For more information about these scholarship opportunities, contact Angela Morris-Long at amorrislong@lovett.org. Scholarships are available for the Summer 2010 trips.
